My name is Jacob Anderson. I am 16 years old and I attend Hawaii Preparatory Academy on the Big island of Hawaii. I was adopted from Cambodia at the age of six months and moved to Chicago with my Family. At the Age of 2 1/2 my family adopted my little sister from Cambodia as well. Following her adoption we then moved to Hawaii and I grew up on the west side of the Big island of Hawaii in a town called Kailua Kona. My childhood was very exciting. Growing up in Hawaii gives you a lot of opportunity for new experiences and exotic encounters. Either Snorkeling with the manta rays or exploring waterfalls the Big island, I was and still am constantly active.
I stand about 5'10 and weigh 160 lbs and my favorite food is the Loco moco. I am funny, outgoing, accepting, and very passionate. I am motivated and I constantly try to improve my results in anything I do. In and out of the pool I am always making friends and while being kept on my "A" game, I always try to push my peers and athletes to stay on theirs.
I started swimming at the age of ten years old on the Kona dolphins swim club. It took me a while to really learn to love the sport for I was never the fastest swimmer in my lane or on my team. Swimming has taught me that success never comes before hard work. I have swam for about 7 years and I have gone to the Hawaii State Championships 4 times and won the 2011-2012 winter meet for the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. As a swimmer my constant goal in the sport is not only to improve but to learn and experience something new every meet. Closing in on my high school swimming career I realize that its not only about dropping your time but learning how you improved, what you did right or what you did wrong, and reflecting on what you have learned. Then using that for your next swim meet.
In college I want to competitively swim and drop my 50 SCY freestyle under a 20.5 and my 100 SCY under a 44.5. Academically I am undecided for a major but have interests in Science engineering, Chiropractic care, and Psychology. I have a A- , B+ average in every class and I am verbal learner. I constantly ask my teachers questions and keep attentive in class.
