Personal Statement
Since as early as I can remember, being in the water was always a must for me. Whether it be at the beach or in a pool, I just enjoyed swimming. In the summer from third to fourth grade, my friends convinced me to joining swimming—it was not a mistake. Going from barely being able to swim in a straight line for half a length, I have managed to create records at swimming pools for my own age group to mastering my own personal goals. My freshman year I was eligble to enter the Big Island Interschoolastic Federation; the conference for High Schools on the Island of Hawaii. Swimming for the Kamehameha Schools Hawaii Campus, I have been on the varstiy team for three consectuive years. Reviewing my progress from my freshman to junior year I would personally say that I have excelled in most of my events. Focusing on freestyle and butterfly my freshman and sophomore year, I came to realize that I have another talent: backstroke. Aside from individual events I also particpate in relays: 4 x 200IM; 4 x 200 free; and 4 x 400 free. Mentally I have created action plans in which I would like to accomplish. By my senior year I hope to be setting league records and participating in the 200IM. Creating goals and having aspirations will hopefully lead me into the collegiate swimming world where I will be able to fulfill my dreams of going to a college while enjoying a sport that has a major part of my life. I plan on pursuing the career path of a doctor. Location of colleges is highly important to me due to the fact that I live in Hawaii. I am aiming for the West Coast of the United States yet if I seek another college elsewhere I will possibly consider it. Division does not matter, yet I and II would be great.
