Personal Statement
Aloha from Kauai,
Character. Work ethic. Leadership. These are my three greatest strengths.
Growing up on a small island has taught me many things, such as a love for the water, but the greatest lesson of all is the impact of growing up in a community where everyone knows you, your family, and your character.
I was raised to be a leader, yet to be humble and to make a contribution to my community. I do this through my commitment to Kauai County Junior Lifeguard Program, for which I have competed at both the state and national level, the Kauai Police Department's Explorer Program and the Hawaii Civil Air Patrol Program.
My athletic goals are to achieve Scholastic All American cuts by my Senior year, followed by Junior National cuts. I aim daily to improve my technique, my speed, and therefore my times. I am the current State Champion in the Boys 15-16 200 yd and 400 yd IM in Hawaii. (1:54.04, 4:06.77, December 2016)
I have been swimming competitively for 12 years. My club has seen 4 new head coaches during that time, each with distinct coaching philosophies, and I feel that this has helped shape me into a very coachable, flexbile, and hard working team member.
I look forward to making a solid contribution to my college team, while achieving great academic and athletic success.
