My academic and athletic accomplishments from high school will, hopefully, help me achieve my goals of studying and competing at the college level. I plan on pursuing mechanical engineering as a major because I have excelled in math and science all through high school. I started to seriously consider engineering as a future career after I took Engineering Problems, where I learned problem solving strategies that I will use in and out of the classroom. Over the summer I plan on being an intern at an engineering firm. Following my college graduation, I aim on becoming an engineer for the U.S. Department of Defense. One of my strongest personal attributes is my work ethic. I have been swimming competitively for nearly my entire life and I've learned the importance of hard work. Work ethic not only benefits me in the pool, but it transfers to the classroom as well. I have proved my hard work with my high GPA while enrolled in college level classes. I began swimming when I was in fourth grade so, needless to say, it has had a huge impact on who I am today. I can't talk about my life without including the sport I spend nearly all of my time on, swimming. I received first team All Conference my sophomore year, junior year, and hopefully senior year. Last year at the state meet in Marshalltown I placed in the top sixteen in all four of my events, receiving 11th place in the 100 and 200 freestyle. This year I hope to break the school record and podium at state.
