Personal Statement
I have been a swimmer since I was five years old. Throughout my years, swimming has taught me to be a respectful, hard-working, humble, persistent, and supportive young man and teammate. My greatest moment so far in my high school career was advancing to state in the 100 freestyle as a sophomore. I am also on track to take down the longest standing record at my high school in the 100 freestyle (held by my oldest brother) with a time of 45.28. Although I have faced a plethora of obstacles, I always manage to push forward and strive for greatness. The most challenging time in my life was my age group state meet in 2013 when I added 12 seconds to my 200 IM. Even though that swim devastated me and made me question my swimming career, I kept moving forward and I continually use that swim as motivation to not let one small thing bring me down and to also keep working harder so moments like that, no longer happen.
Even though swimming is a giant part of my life, I make sure school always comes first. I have my sights set on receiving the Academic Honors Diploma when I graduate high school. While enrolled in both honors and AP courses, I have been the recipient of the A/B Honor Roll each year and each trimester so far. On top of swimming and academics, I am also an officer in my school's Best Buddies program, a member in National Honor Society, and a winner of an outstanding leadership award given out by one of my former teachers. I would like to attend a larger campus while majoring in nursing. I look forward to taking on new challenges and embracing an exciting new future.
