Personal Statement
Hello my name is Ryan Akhavan and I live in Annapolis, Maryland. Swimming has been a big part of my life since I was a little boy. I can remember as a young boy getting into the water and not liking it. After a while I got used to it and started to like it. From then on swimming had been a part of me. At that time my mother set up lessons for me at the local pool. About a few years later I joined the local Rec team and swam for them for a couple of years. At that time my coaches realized that I had great potential to be a great swimmer. So from there my parents signed me up for a club swim team Severna Park YMCA (SPY). I've been swimming there from then on.
I'm a hard working student who always strives for the best. My coaches train and push me; swimming 8 times a week in the winter and 5times a week during the summer. Also swimming thousands and thousands of yards a practice. I have gotten honor roll my whole high school career. I've made states multiple times for my club team and for my high school. I have achieved AA times in my swimming. I'm also a part of a youth group that does community service.
My goals are to go to YMCA Nationals, and to be on the top of my club and high school swim team. I have a GPA of 3.44 and trying to bring it to a 3.6 by the time I end my junior year. Every year I try hard to be the best student I can be. I would like to attend a D1 school where I could benefit from the team's hard work and training. I will definitely consider a high academic DII and DIII school.
