Personal Statement

Hello. My name is Jacob Edwards and I am a senior at Byron Center High School in Byron Center, Michigan. I am 6' 5'' and weigh 165 pounds. I am a long distance swimmer for the Byron Center High School swim team and the East Grand Rapids Aquatics club team. I currently have a 4.12 GPA and received a 1330 on my SAT.


As for my swimming career, this summer at sectionals I swam a 17:07.17 LCM mile, a 2:01.37 LCM 200 freestyle, a 1:02.34 LCM 100 backstroke, and a 4:19.02 400 freestyle. I have the long course state meet coming up this weekend. Again, I also got a sectional cut in the mile. In the 2017 MHSAA Boys D3 Swim and Dive Championship meet i swam a 1:46.44 in the 200 freestyle and a 55.21 in the 100 backstroke. During the 2017 Michigan 13/14 and Open SCY State Meet I swam a 16:53.77 in the mile and a 4:49.47 in the 500 freestyle. 


I want to find a college that suits my academic needs as well as finding a college with a good coaching fit so I know I can improve in the pool. I can be considered as a good candidate for your team because I will work hard in the pool and in the classroom. I will also be a great teammate to others on the team.
