Personal Statement
I've been an athlete all my life, and every sport I've played always evoked a passion within me. This passion, however, is strongest for me in swimming. I've been on the fast track to being a national competitor, being just shy of Junior National cuts after my 2nd season. I'm a team player, a hard worker, and very determined to reach my goals. I strive to improve my race every time I swim, and I'm always trying new techniques for my stroke whenever possible. I'm consistently learning more about the sport, and I'm very open to criticism from my coaches, and offering help to those who request it. I compete fiercely with my teammates, but never let this competitive nature get the best of my interactions with them. Academically, I'm #7 in my class, an AP student, with an interest in just about everything. My busy schedule as a student-athlete has taught me the perks of efficiency, and the consequences of procrastination. You'll find I'm a cooperative and productive member of any team, and I can perform just as well individually, whether it be in the pool or the classroom.
All in all, I recognize that currently my times can't hold a candle to the top swimmers in my age group. However, I still have so much more to learn in my upcoming seasons, between technique work and physical training, that I believe that I will be able to hone my skills on the national level in the upcoming years. The drops I've had from season to season have been enormous, and there is still so much I have yet to learn and perfect.
