Having attended the New Mexico Military Institute my freshman year, I became interested in football. My mother is a single mom, so I could not play at a younger age. Because I came from a private school I could not play varsity my entire sophomore year per NMA rules. I was still the first to show up for practice everyday, even though i could only play for our JV team. Once I experienced the feeling of being part of a team i feel it has made me stronger and committed. I do a lot of swimming and cross-fit training on my own to strengthen my body and my mind.
I feel that having to watch my team play from the stands each Friday night has helped me grow not only as a athlete but as a person. Through this hard time I think anything can be achieved by hard work and commitment, which is something I try to live by on and off the field. Being able to find a team in which you can bond and connect with is important, just like having a school that connects with me not only for sports but also for academics. I believe that aside from talents and natural born athleticism, I have the work ethic, dedication and heart to make a difference in your program.
