I began swimming 2 years ago and have found a passion and love for the sport. In spite of my short time in swimming, I have dedicated 110% to improving and accomplishing the goals I set for myself. I always aim high and strive to excel and surpass my goals. My work ethic is second to none. I have faced many challenges, both in swimming and academics. I have not let these hardships discourage me, or bring me down. Instead, it has fueled my motivation to become the best possible student I can be, as well as a swimmer who is easily coachable and constantly working towards improving his stroke.
I am an excellent candidate for your swim team for many reasons. I have an admirable work ethic, I am extremely motivated, a leader, as well as a friendly, positive teammate. I have a unique character that is very strong, in part, due to the fact that I was diagnosed with dyslexia in fifth grade. From that point forward, I have worked extremely hard to compensate for my disorder, with very successful results. I am currently a straight A, 'Principal List' student at Trinity High School. Academics are very important to me, and I am constantly focusing on learning and being the best student to drive me into success. Swimming has been a huge asset in my life, as it has taught me many lessons about perseverance and fortitude. It has taught me about my inner mental and physical strength, as well as the fact that delayed gratification trumps what is known as instant satisfaction.
Swimming has been a great challenge, presenting me with many opportunities. I have been dedicated since the beginning to get to the top of my swim team, and have so far been successful in doing so. I love the sport because of the wonderful rewards you get out of it, such as good friends, an improved character, and the satisfaction that you have been productive. In addition, swimming has taught me nothing is impossible with the components of hard work, dedication, and a strong will to succeed. For these reasons, given the right opportunity, I am an optimal athlete to pursue swimming at the collegiate level.
