i am 6'2" and 190. i quit swimming to play grade school basketball on my parochial school team in 7th and 8th grade due to conflicts with practices and games. i gave up basketball freshman year and decided to keep active by swimming because of my past experience on club team for 5 years before 7th grade. i loved the team and coaches and made the varsity as a freshman. last year i competed on the number one relay and we broke school records in the 200 and 400 free. i also was our best backstoker. i am most likely to be a captain next year and was taught leadership from this years seniors who i enjoyed a strong bond. my good friend is our best swimmer but i push him as much as he pushes me and we plan on training together this summer when baseball season ends.
I'm interested in engineering or aviation. my math and science classes are my best subjects and i want to continue studying them in college.i haven't thought about where to go but am open to just about anywhere.i hope to compete on a swim team early in my college years but realize i may need to learn better techniques and train harder to accomplish my goal.
i attend a parochial school that is noted for preparing students for college. we have a strict dress code and are a tight knit community. because of swimming and baseball i have a diverse set of friends and my swimming helped me meet many upperclassmen. my closest friends came from my grade school but my training partner on the swim team is who i hang with the most.
this year i qualifyed for the regional and worked real hard to improve my backstroke. hitting the 1:01 was such a thrill since i have been striving for that goal all season. it also allowed me to qualify for districts. i trained even harder for districts and i broke the 1 minute mark as my reward and proudest moment so far. that state experience has me looking forward to my junior year and made me realize how much work i need to do to advance to the next level.
i love challenges and have learned alot this year from our new high school coach and my private instructor. i am easy to get along with and am not shy around others. i consider myself a go-getter.
