Personal Statement
Hello, I'm William Knight and I would love to swim in college. Currently I mainly swim sprints and butterfly. I think I'm best at the 50 free swimming a 22.98 SCY but I also swim a 52.03 100 free and a 56.75 100 fly both SCY. I plan to improve next year and I want to share how I plan on doing that.
First, I want to strengthen my legs, they are by far the weakest part of my body and whenever the team does kick sets, I am near the back of the pack. I want to improve upon this and thus improve my speed in the water. Second I want to work on my starts and turns. I know that they are the weakest part of my race and in the 50, every tenth of a second matters tremendously. To improve upon those would make a world of a difference to my times and I plan on working on those this summer.
More about me out of the pool though. I am originally from California, I moved to Ohio when I was 7, and have lived in Ohio ever since. I started swimming in the 7th grade and have been doing it ever since. I have a 3.96 GPA and have been either 1st or 2nd honors every semester of high school so far.
I aspire to be the best I can be and to work the hardest not only as an athlete but also as a person throughout my college time.
****Update 5/8/15**** I have put on 13 lbs since 2/5/15 and i am on schedule to hit my goal by end of summer.. I feel stronger off the blocks and walls and think my times should drop significantly during long course which should put me in a good position to really perform my senior year... I will be updating later this summer.
****Update 12/19/15**** Just finished first meet of the winter and beat my taper time at Districts last year. Swam a 22.84 50 Free SYC without shaving, wearing a cap and a good half a beard.. Confident that i should be somewhere in the 21's when i taper this February. Will continue to update as the season progresses..
