Personal Statement
When I first started swimming in 7th grade I didn't think that it would become such a big part of my life. However it is a piece of my identity now. I fell in love with the sport and it has changed me and my life in a lot of ways. Swimming shows me that I am capable of so much more than my mind tells me I'm able to do. I enjoy pushing myself and my teammates, even when its hard and my body wants to stop. The people that the sport has brought into my life have become some of my closest friends and I consider many of them to be part of my family. Making memories in and out of the pool and watching each other reach our dreams makes all the hardest practices well worth it.
Being elected as team captain in my senior year was a big event in my life. As a freshman I saw our captains and wanted to become like them both in their athletic excellence and their leadership skills. Along with my co-captains I now lead by example as a positive influence, a excellent athlete, and an example of unselfish attitude and sportsmanship.
As I move into my collegiate years, I aspire to become a better student and athlete. My goal is to gain an education in a field that aligns with my interests and aptitudes and that I can have a passion for. I wish to do my best to achieve continued academic excellence while preparing for a successful career. As an athlete I am looking for the right opportunity to rise to the next level of competition, give my very best with hard work every day, and continue growing in leadership.
Thank you for your time and consideration
