Personal Statement
When I first started competitive swimming it was very challenging for me. I was always the last swimmer in my lane. Many of my friends were faster than me, but I didn't let that stop me. There was something inside of me that knew I could be better. And I wanted to discover how good I could become. So, I always pushed myself. When everyone else would take water breaks, I would swim another 50. I always wanted to push my mind and my body as far as they could go. Over the years, my technique, my work ethic, my love for my sport and my love of learning have only grown stronger. I have been home-schooled since preschool, and this education has provided me with a strong sense of self motivation and dedication to what I love to do, both academically and in my swimming career. I recently highlighted my abilities by placing first in the 500 freestyle at the 2017 Northwest Age Group Regionals in Federal Way, Washington.
