Personal Statement

I have been swimming for the York YMCA Swimming team since 2005, and I have helped it grow from a local county team to one of the top teams in the nation. I have worked with nationally famous coach Michael Brooks for my entire swimming career, and he has disciplined me into an incredibly hard worker with the drive to succeed.

In the classroom, I am a diligent worker with a love for the sciences and mathematics. I attend York Suburban Senior High School, a National Blue Ribbon School, and I am in the top 15%. After a yearlong course in engineering design, I earned the Robert L. Dovey Award in Applied Engineering and Sciences. This award is given to those who show exemplary skill in the field and who receive the highest grade point average. In the future, I hope to study mechanical engineering at a top level school academically as well as athletically.
