I have been swimming competitively for my club team, Y-Spartaquatics (YSSC), since age 11 and have competed at the State, Sectional, and National Level. I have qualified three times for Long Course YMCA Nationals and twice for Short Course YMCA Nationals, making finals at the 2013 and 2014 Long Course meets. As a strong distance swimmer, I have participated in open water swim meets. In fact, I won the 2014 and 2012 Open Water State Championships and attended Open Water Zone Select Camp in September 2013 and September 2014. I have been swimming for my high school team since freshman year. As a sophomore, I won the Team Leadership award, and I served as team captain my junior and senior years. I was named to the All-State Team for each year in high school and was named Regional Swimmer of the year both my junior and senior years. In high school and club swimming, both my best times and in-season times have dropped consistently from year to year and I have earned the reputation of being an extremely hard worker and committed swimmer.
Furthermore, my dedication extends beyond the swimming pool and into the classroom. I attend an academically challenging independent Catholic school where I pursue the most rigorous course load available to me. I study diligently to maintain academic excellence, making the Honor Roll each year and being inducted into honor societies in all five core subjects, as well as National Honor Society. I was named a National Merit Commended Student based on my PSAT score and was recently named to the USA Swimming 2013-2014 Scholastic All America Team. I also strive to use my swimming talents in the service of others, such as becoming a volunteer YMCA swim instructor and by organizing and participating in my family’s Tri for a Cure in order to raise money for cancer research.
I am looking forward to a collegiate swimming career and I am ready to challenge myself both in the pool and in the classroom. It is my goal to attend a school with high academic standards and to help their swim team achieve success. The perfect college for me is one that offers me an opportunity to develop further my leadership skills while preparing me for a future in business law.
