Personal Statement

My first year swimming in high school as an 8th grader taught me a valuable lesson. If you want to obtain a set of goals you must be willing to put in the work. At Mauldin HS , every year on August 1st at 12:01 am , we have our first practice of the season. It is called Midnight Madness because obviously it starts at midnight. I wasn't sure what to expect at all. The older kids were all excited and pumped up to hit the pool. I was too but I was very nervous. At some point in that 3-1/2 hour tryout set as my body went numb I decided that I wasn't going to let this defeat me. I knew I had to push through. When it was over I felt so proud to have endured it.

I am working towards several goals now. I want to finish in the top 25% of my high school class. I would also like to attend a college where I can get a Business degree and make an immediate impact on that schools swim program.

When I was younger I was diagnosed with ADHD. Swimming helps me be focused and disciplined in both the pool and the classroom. I like to set the example for my teammates by showing a strong work ethic in and out of the pool. I believe that showing your dedication by action is the best way to be a  leader for others. Swimming has also helped me meet some of my best friends.

     Sincerely ,

          Benjamin Goodlett

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
