Personal Statement
Being the oldest of four children and having lived in five states has helped me develop a driven, quiet, leadership style, while also dealing with change. I have enjoyed playing hockey, soccer, lacrosse, cross county, and swimming often balancing multiple sports during single seasons. When I was twelve I won my first swimming championship and I found that I enjoyed the sense of team and individual accomplishment more than my other sports. After moving to Texas as a freshman I chose to concentrate on swimming for my future. I joined The Cypress Fairbank Swim Team and was selected to my high school varsity swim team where I qualified for regionals.
Currently I am a Junior, and Captain of the High School Swim team, where I have developed a style of strong leadership through example. Academically, Math and Physics are two of my favorite courses but I've always enjoyed History and learning about other cultures and countries, especially ancient Mediterranean civilizations. For my senior year I will be concentrating on advanced mathematics and pre college AP studies which I hope will prepare me for a future in either business or engineering.
This year my goal is to lead my team to the Texas State swimming Championships and personally qualify for the USA Speedo Summer Junior Championships. Last month, I broke the Cy-Fair Bobcat High School 500 yard freestyle record that had been in place since 1994, I look forward to setting more high school swim team records over the next year and a half. The balance of team, individual, family, and athletics is something that I look forward to continuing in my College Experience.
