Austin Jennings '15 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Austin Jennings and I would love to swim at the varsity level in college while studying to achieve my goals. Since I was a late bloomer I've only started to become more competitive in the last year or so.  I believe that in college I will be able to accomplish so much more than I will accomplish in high school.  I am a 4 year varsity swimmer at my high school-- Walsingham Academy (to which I commute about an hour each way).  I have a very strong work ethic which is indicative of my large progression in time drops over my high school career as well as in my school work as I have maintained a high GPA and strong class schedule while still balancing swimming and a social life.  I would like to major in chemical or nuclear engineering with a minor in Spanish and hope to have the opportunity to study abroad in a Hispanic country to immerse myself in the language and culture that I have been studying for the past six years.  I also enjoy singing.  I am a part of my school's Madrigal singers who have traveled over the years to Italy to sing for the Pope (twice) as well as to the London Olympics to sing in the Olympic park area.  I have been a Soloist in this group my Sophomore, Junior and (hopefully) Senior years as well as a section leader in my Junior and Senior years.  I would like to continue to not only swim but possibly sing in college as an extracurricular interest, however swimming is my main focus and is what I want to do, mainly, in college besides what I am actually there for: to get a top notch education that will help me later in life.
