Personal Statement
"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got. But to get what you've never had, you'll have to do what you've never done." This is my motto for school and for swimming. I'm not happy just resting on past accomplishments. I like to push myself to do better. In my experience, extra effort is always worth it. In swimming, I train outside of the club with Olympian Margaret Hoelzer so I can get better. 1.03 is fast enough to qualify for the bigger high school meets in my area, but I want to make sure I am at state this year and in the finals.
In college, I am looking to have a quality student-athlete experience at an NCAA division II or III school. I like the idea of attending a small private school especially (NCAA III) because of the intimate class sizes and the instructor-student interaction. I learn best when I can bond with the teacher and I give my best when I feel there is a personal stake in my progress. In turn, because people have helped me, I never hesitate to help others. On my high school team, I never let them give up and in turn, they never gave up on me. That's what I bring to your team--academic success and dedication, and an appreciation for the value of teamship
Thank you for your consideration.
