Jacob Palley '16 Recruiting Profile

I am, Jacob Palley, a rising senior at Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park, Illinois.  I have been on the varsity team for three years and this past year played number 1 singles and then number 1 doubles for conference, sectionals and state.  We had great results at the Illinois High School Tournament losing a close match in the quarterfinals to the eventual runner-up team.  I was selected All-Conference and the team’s MVP. 

I love playing tennis and play with a lot of passion.  While it is great to be ahead, because I have come back from being way down in a set to win the set and the match, I have learned to not give up until the last point is played.  I have been told that I am very coachable and a good and positive teammate.  As the top player, I was a leader to the younger players and encouraged them to play their best.  In elementary and middle school I played on many competitive sports teams, but I have settled on tennis.  In addition to the high school season, I also play some USTA tournaments.  I am currently ranked 42 in Chicago and 179 in the Midwest.  I am 6’2” and 190 lbs. and I play right-handed.  I would like to join a team where I will play and make an impact as soon as I can. 

My current GPA is 2.6 and I have all As and Bs in my current classes.  I will be taking the ACT in late October.  I have not yet decided on a major or field of study. 

I am looking at a variety of schools and am open to any opportunities that come my way.  I would prefer a suburban or urban school but am open to size and location.
