Personal Statement

My main goal in college is to play tennis. Not only do I want to play it there though, I want to win. I have always been a determined person in all aspects of my life. Whether it was losing sixty pounds my sophomore year, or practicing tennis three hours a day all summer long, I am determined to get better. The main thing that makes me different is my willingness to succeed. I am sure people say that on a countless basis, but I am saying it truthfully. All of my choices in diet and exercise are to further myself from the competition in tennis. I am a hardworking, determined, and competitive tennis person. I want to win. I do not fold under pressure. I love the pressure. In academics, I want to be in sports medicine. I love nutrition and I have been into to for around three years. This is why I am different from the rest of the field. Everything I eat and every workout is for tennis.

Going into the tournament, I had a perfect 16-0 record in the regular season. The very first match I played I won 6-4, 6-2. The next match was a nail biter, although the score of the second set doesn't indicate it, and I lost 7-6(7-4), 6-4. The next match I played I won 6-3, 6-2. The match after that was a match in which I had troubles in, but still ended up winning 6-4, 6-4. The fifth and final match that I played was against the very same person that knocked me out of state the prior year. I ended up taking the first set 6-4, but he rebounded with a 6-3 win in the second. After the small break in between the second and third set, we played our tie-breaking match to determine who would be guaranteed All-State honors. After what seemed like forever, he ended up winning the final set 6-3. I ended up taking 7th at State.

I went in as number four singles as a Sophomore. I lost my first match (to the eventual state champion.) The next match I played I won, ten games to nothing. The last match I played I got beaten and was therefore knocked out of State.
