Personal Statement
I am a determined and passionate player and strive to help my team win matches and encourage my teammates. I have loved the athleticism, and competitive nature of tennis since taking up the game at 12. My goal is to play collegiate tennis at the highest level possible and possibly go beyond college with it. I am always looking to put in more court time and improve my game in all areas. I have been active at the Raleigh Racquet Club Tennis Academy and now the North Hills Tennis academy for over a year. I try to play in USTA tournaments approximately twice a month. In an effort to get even more competitive play in, I participated in a 4.5 level men's tennis ladder last fall at our local park. I have beaten a number of two star players and believe I will achieve that level, or higher, soon.
I played a number of sports previously including soccer, basketball and baseball. The team sports have helped me develop as a team player, which I know will be important to my success on my college team. In the classroom I maintain a high GPA. My GPA through my junior year is 3.9 (unweighted), my current (only) ACT score is 27, and my latest SAT score is 1280.
I have a heart for people and believe my strong interpersonal skills will lead to a career in medicine or business where I have the opportunity to interact with a lot of people on a daily basis. I have had the good fortune of traveling to Ecuador on a service project (summer 2015); work with children (Under 8's) at Millbrook Park interested in tennis (Fall 2015) and I am fairly involved in my church youth group.
I am confident that I will make a very positive contribution to my college team and be an excellent ambassador for my school. I am super excited about playing college tennis!
