Personal Statement
I have received the Fighting Heart Award as a Freshman, and MVP as a Sophomore, and MVP as a Junior - as a line one tennis player on Varsity Tennis at Bellville, TX High School. I will be attending State in College Station, TX, as I qualified by getting 2nd place at Regionals in mixed doubles this Spring Tennis Season (2014). I placed 4th place in Regionals my Freshman and Sophomore Year in Singles. My Senior Year, I have been inducted into the National Honor Society, having a 3.5 GPA.
When I first started playing USTA, I achieved Champ level early, even though I wanted to "Super", I had to quit playing for a while because of academic and school events and commitments. I would like to opportunity to be able to train full time, so that my game will improve, and that I can compete at college level.
I also achieved a Black Belt, second degree in Tae Kwon Doe at the age of 13, and competed and won many tournaments.
I balance my academics with my sports, and place priority on my school work. I try hard at everything I do, and if I lose a match, I always try to take something positive from it, and learn. I love the game of Tennis, and would love the opportunity to play at college level.
I feel that I am a fortunate person, and try to give back by being active in my church, and volunteer work. (such as Mountaintop Ministries my Sophomore summer)
I try to be a leader when necessary, and a Christian during adversity. I hope to make a difference in the world in my own way. I was elected for Boys State in Austin, TX - and I attended Boys State during The Summer of 2014, as I am interested in Law and Politics.
I attended Camp Taconic in Hinsdale, MA, working with kids, and teaching tennis during the summer of 2014, and got the opportunity to improve my game by playing top tennis players.
I work hard at a part -time job at a title company doing land research, to try to earn my own way, and gain work experience. I realize that an education is very important, but good work ethic is a must too.
