Personal Statement
I hope to realize my goal of competing and excelling at the next level and am willing to sacrifice to make that a reality. I am a dedicated teammate with leadership skills who is driven to get the most out of my abilities and help my teammates maximize their ability as well. I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue to improve through coaching and hard work. "Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
It is my pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Shane Smith as his coach and mentor.
I have known Shane as student-athlete on the Track and Field team at Pinnacle High School and for multiple seasons I've had the pleasure of watching him learn and grow into an amazing athlete. Shane's ability to quickly decipher information and appropriately apply it makes him a valuable individual.
As a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, professional athlete and coach I'm aware of certain obstacles. Whereas many athletes see obstacles and worry or panic, Shane plans and executes, overcoming every hurdle because he strives for continuous success. Every time he steps on the track he continuously sets standards higher for himself and the people around him.
As an individual, Shane is always willing to help coaches and go the extra mile for his teammates. He has proven to be a leader without force but by example. Though he shies away from the spotlight, he doesn't need the fame or glamor others need to continue because he believes in his own hard work and effort to move forward.
Shane is a priceless individual, whose efforts know no bounds and with his abilities, there is no limit to his future.
