Personal Statement
I started running back in 7th grade, when I joined the Sunrise Aztec's Track and Field Team. I continued running in high school at North Canyon, starting with Track my freshman year. In my sophmore and junior years, I did both Cross Country and Track. I did not take running seriously, not until my junior year of high school. At the beginning of my junior year, I decided that I was going to be good, and I mean really good, at competitive running. I went from walking whenever I felt like it, to pushing through the pain no matter how bad it was. I went from letting that one guy pass me at the end of a race, to putting everything on the line to beat him, even if it only meant 31st place instead of 32nd. I dropped my 5k time by 2 minutes, and my mile time by nearly a minute.
My dad remembers the time back in 8th grade when I told him that I would never run a competitive mile, well, look at me now. I now say that I will never run a marathon, I guess we'll see how long that will last.
