Personal Statement
My goals in life include becoming an olympic track & field runner, or becoming a professional football player, and also to go to the University of Florida. I want to go there because it's my dream college. I plan on studying sports medicine in college due to the fact that I am a very active person. I also am not one-hundred percent sure that's what I want to study, or the occupation I wish to pursue. Even though the University of Florida is my dream school, i am open to all options available for me. I am open to all divisions as well.
I have been running track since I was 10 years old. I have wanted to run since I was in first grade, but never got the chance until I was in fifth grade. When I first ran track, my teacher put me in the 400 meter dash. I had never ran track before so I didn't think I would be good at it. After I finished running I finished second in my heat, and got third in the school. I also long jumped that year as well. Ever since then I have loved the sport and have ran it every season ever since.
In seventh grade I went to a track meet only prepared for the 400 meter dash and long jump, however when I got there my coach told me that I had to triple jump as well. At that time I didn't know how to triple jump, so it created a problem for me. I had asked some triple jumpers how to perform the correct steps, while in line to long jump. I triple jumped 30 feet and 1 inch that meet. When I got the results of my performances from that meet, I was quite shocked. I ended up moving on for triple jump, but not long jump. In my whole career up until that point I thought long jump was my strongest event, however I was truly mistaken. I made it all the way to the valley championships in seventh grade for an event I learned less than a month before that meet. My PR from seventh grade was 33 feet and 1/4 inch. I was only three inches away from getting fifth place, and a medal as well that meet.
My PR has gone from 33' 1/4" in seventh grade to 34' 5" in eighth grade, and to 35' 3 1/4" as a freshman. As a Sophomore my PR increased to 37' even, i was very happy after that jump. My season goal for my Sophomore year was 38', although i wasn't able to beat it i was very happy that my personal record increased by two feet.
Although my personal records for triple jump have been slowly increasing each season, i have been training real hard and hope to improve my PR by either three or four feet. Even though it is a very challenging goal, i am very determined to pass it this season.
