Hello, My name is Jared Ruffin. I'm a Senior at Northwood High School. I don't want to "Just go to College" instead I want a "Well-rounded College experience". I plan to major in Business and become a major contributor in the profession of Public Service. Athletics and academics will give me the experience and skill sets I need to be successful across a wide spectrum of business practices. Sports has always been a part of my childhood development and has taught me some valuable life lessons. I have played sports with people from all walks of life, created bonds with my teammates, and encouraged my teammates to excel. As a result of playing Soccer, Tennis, Water Polo, Swimming, Track & Field, and Football, I believe I am a good candidate for any collegiate team because I know what it takes to be a team player. In High School Track and Field, I developed an interest in "Throwing" one day at the Collegiate Track & Field level. If given the opportunity to Throw at the collegiate level, it is my goal to: a.)Learn something from every practice and Track Meet; b.)Be nationally recognized; c.)Break a collegiate throwing record. Given my past experiences, achievements, and attendance at one of the most academically challenging high schools in the nation, I do not consider myself your typical recruit. I am always looking for ways to improve upon my character, athleticism, and academics; thus, I am always working hard at promoting positive team camaraderie, fine tuning my throwing technic, and applying what I have been taught. In closing, I am reminded of this quote from B.C. Forbes, "Think not of yourself as the architect of your career but as the sculptor. Expect to have to do a lot of hard hammering and chiseling and scraping and polishing." If I am recruited to play at the collegiate level, I am ready to do what it takes to be a successful college athlete.
