I began running track and field in 2nd grade, where I quickly learned that I was neither the fastest nor the strongest sprinter and to become one, I needed to be committed and make sacrifices. After seven years of using my wins and losses as stepping stones, I became the youth county champion in all my sprint events including relays. My successes however, were not limited to sports only. While pursuing my athletic goals, I was driven to become the top student in my middle school. The same year I became the county champion I achieved top honors in my school and graduated as the valedictorian. This taught me that perseverance, sacrifices, and hard work do indeed pay off. Despite track being an individual sport, I learned that teamwork is also the key for success, as my relay team and I would not have won the championships or broken any records had it not been for the effort each of us contributed toward our goal.
My goals for high school are to help my track team win the league championships, become the team captain in my junior and senior years, and maintain my high GPA and graduate with honors. I am looking for a college where I can continue my athletic career and pursue my education. I believe I have a set of skills that will help me become a successful student-athlete at the collegiate level. I have a strong work ethic, I am highly motivated, and have good leadership skills. I lead by example.
