Personal Statement
My long term aspiration is to either go to the Olympics, go pro, or become an Economist or work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Running is my passion; however, I believe economics can open up many career opportunities for me in the field of business. I am a very social person and think I have the personality to network with others in the field of business/economics. Additionally, I want to help others that get taken advantage of. The FBI would give me the tools needed to conduct investigations against crime. I am interested in a school that opens my mind to the many careers that I may not even heard of, and social aspects that will prepare me for life.
Additionally, I am interested in attending a school with a very competitive athletic program. I have a passion for the competitive environment. I am currently competing at a small Christian School and have hopes to compete with athletes that will challenge me not only in a race, but also at trainings. I feel that I have not yet peaked in my performance for running. Luckily I am self motivated and do have caring coaches, but with the help of college coaches I feel that my times will improve enormously.
I am a leader amongst my peers, and am always willing to do what's best for my team. During track and field season I have ran four events at a meet to help my team score points. I gave up all other sports, like soccer, so I can concentrate solely on running. Because of my experience in other sports, that sometimes ran simultaneously, I have achieved the mental capacity to push myself and others. I have also had many different coaches with contrasting personalities, which makes me adaptable and teachable for any kind of coach.
The thing that makes me different from other recruits is that most of my running talent comes from natural ability. I can be molded into something great because I have potential and have not yet been taught many new skills that can make me an even better runner. In the eighth grade I was awarded Most Inspirational Christian Athlete because I inspire my teammates by never giving up. I have a friendly personality and have been a mentor coach to younger runners on my club team. After I finish my workout, I go back and push others to give their all to the finish line.
