Personal Statement
My collegiate goal is to be a multi-sport athlete in both Track & Field (throwing) as well as Soccer, while also being part of an engineering program. I bring a fresh perspective to training, setting a high example, high work ethic, and how to 'find a way' to succeed. Finding a way to succeed is vital to creating desire in athletes to better themselves. I work to challenge myself, and through it, challenge others to be better. My throwing and lifting with the 'big guys' in Track pushes the 250 lb + athlete to work more technique and to not be content in lifting, rather continue to improve and raise goals. Similarly, at soccer many athletes underestimate my speed and ball control and have the ability to play nearly anywhere on the field, from center defense, to center mid, to forward. On the soccer travel team, the coach will routinely use me where more pressure (or speed) is needed.
One of my favorite quotes: "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but size of fight in the dog".
I also bring 'fun' to the sport (whether soccer or track) by knowing when to keep things light, and knowing when to focus hard. I've found that happy teammates perform better and that a good working team makes for better individual performers.
