Personal Statement
My name is Nolan Sanchez. I'm 17 years old and will begin my senior year of high school in August, 2016. After high school, I'd like to take my track experience, knowledge and skill to the next level; College.
A personal goal of mine in my running career is to make it to the Olympics. Every time I train and compete it gets me closer to the thought and possibility of going to the Olympics someday. My father has always told me that I started running well before my first birthday. However, my interest in running did not happen until I started high school. In my freshman year of high school, my cross country coach inspired me to become a runner and ever since then I've worked hard, stayed focused and have become very dedicated to cross country and track.
Some life lessons that I've learned from cross country and track are that things don't just come to you. You have to work hard and show that you are willing to give every ounce of energy to whatever it is you are striving for. I've also learned that in running you have to believe in yourself. You have to tell yourself that, "you can do this."
Academically my goals in high school are to get good grades and graduate with a GPA higher than a 3.0. As for college, I would like to study Meteorology and become a Meteorologist or get a degree in Business. An obstacle that I've had to overcome in my life is being doubtful. In my sophomore year of high school, I was very doubtful in my running career. Since then, I've learned to tell myself, "that I can do this" and now my running career is improving.
A unique characteristic and quality that I possess is my determination. Once I set my mind to something, it's practically impossible for me to give up on it. I have the drive to work hard every day and make a goal or dream a reality.
With my current running stats in high school and my unique qualities as a person - I feel I will be a great addition to any college.
Thank you for your consideration,
Nolan Sanchez
