Ever since I was young, I always played every sport that I could. Bouncing around from soccer to football to basketball but I never found what made my heart feel at home until the first time I stepped onto a track in fifth grade. While other kids struggled and ultimately crumbled under the immense pain that is distance running--I thrived. The discipline to hold the right pace not only in the first lap but also the last and the pureness of the sport played to all my strengths. It does not take skill, or style, or fancy moves to be a top-level distance runner, instead it takes dedication and heart. Both qualities that I feel that I possess more than anything.
