Personal Statement
First, there are my collegiate goals and aspirations. I want to work my way up to the varsity level on the cross country team. I want to maintain a 3.0 GPA and find a major that fits my interests. Also, I want to attend a 4-year college with a 4 year-degree and graduate. Finally, I want to find the right running program to help me to compete at the next level.
Second, there are several reasons why I am a good candidate for their team. I am a proven student and a proven athlete. I am dedicated and tough because I recently went through 2 stress fractures in my ankles. Instead of doing nothing, I found different ways of training. Next, I have the experience. I have run 4 years at altitude and all 4 years I have gone to State. I have personally achieved the elite level, along with the elite team level. I have also had experience with traveling to races such as Nike Cross Regionals South West. All-in-all, I am willing to do what it takes.
Third, there is what makes me different in character. One of my character traits is serving. I am a leader with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at our school, I volunteer on Sunday mornings at church in the elementary school area, and I recently returned from a week long missions trip to Guatemala where I volunteered with kids and built a home for a widow. My character traits also consist of perseverance. I overcame 2 stress fractures in my ankles. I am a good teammate and encourage my fellow teammates even when I was injured. Another trait is that I am mature. I set myself a high moral standard and stay out of trouble. Next, what makes me different in athletics. I have 4 years of State and altitude running experience. I am also a year round runner. Lastly, I am different in academics. I work hard in school which is why I had a 3.6 GPA the last 3 years. Also, I was awarded the Pikes Peak Athletic Conference All-Area Academic First Team two times.
