Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Christopher Jamal Curry.
I have been running track since sixth grade. Early in my career I tried to add to my skill set, growing from just a sprinter into a middle distance runner with speed. As I've gotten older I've tried to perfect my main events which have become the 400, the 800, and the mile. Due to the transformation in my skill set I have grown to be a very versatile runner. . My work ethic has propelled me to be a solid athlete, which has been my biggest dream.
I have always been an outstanding student within the classroom. I take a lot of challenging courses such as AP and honors classes. As a middle schooler I was enrolled in the pre-international Baccalaureate program. I try to hold myself to a high academic standard. As a sophomore last year I took the ACT and scored a 21 . I am college ready, and continue to strive toward academic excellence.
I have been volunteering in my community since sixth grade. I am currently volunteering with Brooks Rehabilitation center where I can learn more about the field I want to study. I became interested in this field as a tenth grader while I was in physical therapy. I feel great about helping others overcome obstacles to reach their dreams much like I have. While doing my volunteer work I have met numerous people that encourage me through their own life challenges and personal victories. I am a quality individual a great head on my shoulders.
I know that I'd be a great member on any team because I play my part. As a younger athlete I understand that I will need to take time to develop into the role my team needs. I am dedicated to pushing myself to challenge upperclassmen. I believe I am an athlete that can come in and score points immediately for any school. The team always comes first and I plan to do what is necessary to propel myself to be a outstanding individual both on and off the track.
