Personal Statement
My name is Cameron Allen. I am currently a Senior at Matanzas High School and have participated as a Varsity member of Cross Country and Track each of the four years at the school. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 145 pounds. I was selected by my teammates and head coach as a Co-Captain of the Cross Country team for the 2010 - 2012 seasons (my Sophmore - Senior years). I was selected to the All Area Cross Country First Team my Junior year, competed at Districts, Regionals and States my Freshman, Sophmore and Junior Years for Cross Country. In Track, I was a member of the 4 x 800 Relay team that attended the 2010 State track meet. In 2012, I was able to place first at two meets, the Key West Xcursion and our District Championship meet. I was the 2012 Conference Meet Runner-up and a few weeks later I was able to win Districts and was named District Champion.
I was presented with the Waste Pro Outstanding Achievement Award for Academic and Athletic Achievement in November 2012. I also was awarded an AP Scholar award for passing three Advanced Placement exams with a 3 or better. I was able to score a 4 on the Biology exam freshman year and then my junior year I was able to score a 4 on the Psychology exam and a 3 on the Statistics exam.
As I think about the type of college or university I would prefer to attend, I would be open any school that gives me an opportunity to compete my Freshman year and have an immediate positive impact. I bring to the table a great work ethic as well as strong leadership capabilities, which I have demonstrated throughout my high school athletic career. With that said, location and school size aren't deciding factors or deal breakers for me, but my preference would be to stay somewhere in the Southeast. Although I am unsure of my major, I am leaning toward Athletic Training, Education, or Zoology.
