Personal Statement
I am a determined and hardworking athlete who commits all of my time toward getting better in all aspects of Track and Field. I sacrifice hanging out with my friends all night for going to practice and the gym to workout allowing my skill set to increase. No matter how tired I am at practice, I know I have to push myself past my limits in order to not only become physically tough on and off the track, but to stay mentally tough as well. I take track seriously, with little room for play, which separates me from a lot of people I have trained with and run against. I believe that there is always room for improvement whether It's when I'm long jumping or sprinting. When I am asked to run a certain leg or fill in a spot for someone on a relay who may be injured, I run to the best of my ability which in almost all situations helps my team earn multiple points giving us either the win in the meet or secure a certain spot going into the next round. I am often trusted and left with the authority to make calls on the track in a relay I am in or during big meets because my coaches trust my leadership abilities and know I will make the right decisions. I am always pushing others to get better whether we are at practice or working out. When my teammates say they can't go anymore or they can't finish the workout, even though I am as tired as them, I know that I have to set an example as one of the leaders on my team that hard work will pay off in the long run. None of this would be possible without working hard in the classroom. My family has made it clear since I started sports that grades come first, no exceptions unless there is a legitimate explanation. Getting my assignments done and turning in essays on time are key to keeping my grades above my parents expectations so I can continue my athletic career. I have been recognized for my grades and what I participate in by numerous teachers, colleges and associations around the U.S. I want to major in Business/Marketing/ Networking. I want to understand the aspects of owing and managing a Business, how to manage large amounts of money and how to network properly so that I can expand my Business or Renovations all over the U.S. to help better the economy.
