Running has always been a passion of mine. Growing up in an active family, it was inevitable that I would follow in my parents footsteps in becoming a runner.
I joined the varsity cross country and track teams last year, as a sophomore. Despite being one of the youngest members of the team, I quickly became a team leader and captain. Each day in practice and at meets, I strive to set a positive example for underclassmen through determination, an unwavering work ethic, character, and a careful balance between athletics and academics.
Though running is a high priority, I also place high emphasis on academics. Through my freshman and sophomore years in high school, I have maintained a 4.1 GPA while being an active member of the Iolani Stage Band and Jazz Combo music ensembles, as well as heading my school's MIT Launch club, an entrepreneurship/business club, volunteering with Special Olympics Hawaii, and conducting independent research studies, among other extracurricular activities.
I am looking to attend a college where I can make a difference both academically and athletically. I plan to pursue a degree in computer science/engineering or economics.
