Personal Statement
It was evident that I had the desire to strive for success from an early age, and as I grew older that success began to come. During my freshman year, I was able to make our varsity lineup in cross country and bring home our school's first 4A state championship in the sport. However, it was not just about what I did on the course that helped bring success to our team.
Being a young runner on the team, I found it important that I step up and take a leadership role. The determination I had to bring home another state championship was visible to everyone, and my leadership helped other underclassmen on our team gain the confidence to give it their all. This leadership helped bring more talent into our team the following year for continued success and team growth. I noticed how effective my leadership was on my team and applied it to my academics. I realized the importance of being a student-athlete last April when I prepared for and took the ACT in addition to getting a PR in the mile while continuing to fulfill my other academic responsibilities. My talents as a runner and a student continue to grow, and I believe I can make an impact as a leader and an athlete in the collegiate level.
