I have been running cross country since my freshman year and since then it has hooked me. During my first year of running, I was 2nd team all-conferance and 2nd team all-district. I broke the freshman record at state, running my 5K in 16:18. Later that year during my freshman track campaign, my 4x800 team was 1st team all-conferance, 1st team all-district, and qualified for both the Drake Relays and State. I also ran the 800 meter dash, I was the only freshman to make the open 800 and i ran my last 800 in a PR of 2:01. This fall, i had the honors of being 2nd team all-conference again and 1st team all-district while at the state meet again breaking another record, this time the sophomore record, I ran 15:58 for a 5k. My sophomore track season brought with it a lot of good fortune. I primarily ran the 800 once again and topped off my fastest time of the year in a 1:57. As of last Fall, my junior year had began with high expectations. I was looked on as a leader, being named to my first captaincy of the cross country team. Junior cross country didn't go as I had planned, topping out at 16:02 for a 5K. That down Fall really fueled me to put in a stellar Winter, preparing myself for the Spring track season. Behind my best Winter in terms of training, I was able to run PR's in the 3200 (10:00), 1600 (4:22) 800 (1:53) and 400 (51.8). I am very hopeful that I can close out my Senior year with an excellent cross country campaign and an even better track season.
