Personal Statement
Ever since 7th grade I've wanted to compete in High School. I had multiple high school coaches comment and praise me for my speed. What they've also done is given me constructive criticism. During my Freshmen year of high school I excelled at the freshmen level and was brought up to JV for conference. I worked everyday on my starts and exchanges during the indoor season. During the Outdoor season I started to separate myself from teammates and others on the JV level. I competed for multiple meets on Varsity the second half of the Outdoor season and made the Sectionals meet lineup. My goal for this year and the next two years are to make it to state. I want to compete at the next level and get as much help over the summer during camps and AAU team. What separates me from others is my work ethic on the track and how I take criticism from others and coaches and transitioning it onto the track. I am currently working with tutors and teachers to get grades and overall GPA up. I am at a 2.7 right now and would like to get up to 3.0 by the end of the school year. The words "student athlete" mean a lot to me and it has been drilled into my head since day one. I need to work on my grades even more than how I do on the track. I commit my daily life to this sport and try improving every single day.
