Personal Statement

After my Freshman year, I decided to drop my other sports and focus entirely on track and field. I ran a 2:03 as a freshman, a 1:59 as a sophomore, and a 1:55 as a junior. This year I'm going to run a 1:51.

I understand the most important part of our sport is having mental aptitude, and forging resilience is necessary to succeed. I've come to love grueling workouts and embrace the pain that comes with progress. One of the greatest things resulting from track is the team atmosphere that transcends among us as the season progresses. Hurting, growing, failing, succeeding, and breaking barriers with the guys right by your side brings you close to them .

Academically, I apply myself to my studies zealously. I take my schooling very seriously, and I have always been at the top of my class. I have been in as many AP and honors courses as I can fit in my schedule, and I greatly enjoy the challenges they present.

In college, I plan to be a competitive athlete at the Division 1 level and obtain a degree in Architectural Engineering. Having college level courses at the high school level has prepared me for the strain of being a top level student athlete, thus I feel I will be able to handle the transition from high school to college.

I look forward to talking with you.

Yours,

Connor Dessert

  • 5 years
  • Trains with distance/XC coach during XC season. During the winter, between seasons, focuses on continuation of base training but incorporates weight lifting into schedule more vigorously. During track season, trains almost completely with sprints coach but will sometimes train with distance. Summer (club) track and field puts a great deal of anaerobic strength (most intense training). Lifts the entire year, with the exception of during club track, with an emphasis on core and olympic lifts.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
