Personal Statement
College athletics has always been something that I have wanted to do, and that I have worked hard to be good enough for. When I practice, I practice so that I am able to perform well. Competing only with the people around me is often not challenging enough for me to feel like I am being pushed constantly by my competition. Because of this I compete in every out of season, more exclusive meet that I can, so that my personal abilities will not only be shown and used, but challenged. There is no better place to challenge myself by finding the absolute best competition than in Division 1 college athletics. Over the last few years, I have seen tremendous growth in my abilities due to hard work and great help from coaches. Even though I don’t have any coaches that have had experience in the events that I want to do, my coaches and I have put a lot of time into researching the best ways to drill, the best technique, and good competitions to compete in. I want this growth to continue as it has been, and even more with a coach that knows exactly what he is doing. My athletic progress has been supplemented by academic growth while at high school, and I have become very interested in the math and physics fields. I truly hope to learn a lot during my time in college and am excited to progress as much physically as I hope to mentally at a great college.
