Track is my passion.
I started running track in 6th grade, not knowing how good or competitive I could be, I tried several events to see what my strongest would be. I discovered that sprints were my strongest events. By the end of that Jr. High season, I had been moved up to run with the next class up and became part of the 4 X 100 state relay team that received a medal. At that point I set my sights on higher goals for Jr. High track and ended up setting 6 school records for 7th and 8th grade, running in 3 straight state track meets, medaling in the long jump, 100 M and winning the State Championship in the 200 M my 8th grade season. After performing so well during these seasons, I knew that participating in high school, college, and beyond would be one of my biggest life goals.
2 years of track at the Varsity level in high school and I have been able to hold my own against the older and physically stronger athletes, I was part of a 4 X 200 team my freshman year that made the state meet and also a member of the 4 X 200 relay team my Sophomore year that made the finals and finished 7th at the State meet. I made the finals at sectionals in my other events but did not make the state meet. My drive to become stronger, and faster in order to post better times in my events has been fueled by my aspiration to become a state champion in high school as well. I have made sacrifices by giving up other sports I enjoy to focus strictly on becoming stronger, and quicker so that it can help reduce my times in order to run at the next level. You will find I am very coachable and am willing to go the extra to achieve my goals.
My school work is just as important to me as my career in track is. I give my education just as much drive and attention as i do my track events. I want to major in engineering and I hope to find a university that offers me a chance to excel in both track, and the engineering field. I always give 100% and to run at the next level would be a dream come true for me.
