Personal Statement

My name is Kyle Lowe.  I live in a small town named Sibley, in the Northwest corner of Iowa.  My collegiate goals and aspirations are to join a Men’s Track program while obtaining a comprehensive academic education in Kinesiology.

Ever since I was a young child, I played sports.  Sports have taught me the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, respect for authority and rules, how to win with class, and most importantly how to lose with dignity and grace.

So what makes me an outstanding candidate for your Men’s Track program?  I am an ambitious, dedicated, and passionate athlete.  I am insightful at bringing out the best in people.  I prefer to hold an attitude of positive expectation in people rather than looking for what is missing or what is wrong with a person.

I am ambitious at inspiring others to reach their full potential.  To quote Paul Ryan, “Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.”

I am dedicated to my teammates.  I strive to set personal goals and I am committed to my own personal development.  I believe in sharing an open channel of communication with my coach so we can strengthen and build a positive bond of trust and respect towards one another.  I am open-minded to direction, guidance, and training that will positively influence my performance level and help me reach greater achievements in my track career.

I am a passionate athlete.  Physically, emotionally and spiritually my body is a temple of God.  I practice balance and moderation in all aspects of my physical health.  I eat nutritious foods, exercise and work out regularly, and get plenty of sleep.  Exercise has enabled me to build a strong immune system, strengthen my muscles and bones, while maintaining a tone body and healthy weight.

Character is the very core of an individual.  The way I conduct myself is defined by my values, morality, concern for others, compassion, responsibility, respect, and obligation to duty for others.  This is what makes me stand out from other athletes.  I am not afraid to do the right thing, even when it comes at a personal cost or it is not the popular thing to do.

Athletically I am humbled by what I have been able to achieve so far in my high school athletic career.  Compared to other recruits, I have the ability and willingness to learn more.  I am willing to listen to suggestions and accept advice; I am not too proud to learn.  I am willing to trust in my coaches and allow them to guide and help me achieve my goals.

Academically, I know that the decisions I make today may be life-altering, with long term consequences.  What makes me the better recruit is my commitment to my studies.  I have strong study habits and have established clear and specific goals that are achievable.

Athletic competitions have taught me how to learn from my successes and failures both athletically and academically.  I am Kyle Lowe, and I am the right athlete for your Men’s Track program.
