Ever since I was in the second grade it has seemed as if I've been gifted with a unique connection between myself and special needs children. Lately I have been volunteering at Handi-Camps, at White Mills Christian Camp. Currently, I am working on starting a Best Budies program at my school. This is a program that is after school and is designed for students taking regular classes to tutor and bond with the students in special education. Because of these things, I would like to major in special education. Another passion of mine is photography, in which I'd like to minor in. I started taking photography 1 Junior year, which is the earliest you can take the class at my school, because the thought of art in a real-life snapshot intrigues me and it is something that I will be interested in for the rest of my life.
I would be a good candidate for a college team because I feel that I have a strong, natural leadership quality. A lot of this may come frm JROTC, but I would say that I set a good example. Freshman year, I decided to dedicate myself to running and pole vaulting and it has payed off well. I made Varsity as a Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior in both cross country and track at Louisville Male High School. For the past two years, I have been voted head team captain on my cross country team. Another thing that would make me a good candidate for a college team is the fact that I am a duel-sport athlete; I am a cross country runner and a pole vaulter in track and field. Though I haven't ran distance events in track recently, I would be open to it, pole vaulting is just my top priority during the track season. The main reason that I running distance in track is because I'm not as competitive in the distance events as I am in pole vault. I am also a in Fellowship Christian Athletes at my school, in which we meet every Tuesday morning before school in the large gym. I am a member of the Class of 2018 pep club which meets to discuss events, fundraisers, and other important issues involving my class. Lastly, I am one of two mascots at my school; I have shown up to every football game dressed as the mascot since I've started being the bulldog sophomore year, which interests me in being a mascot in college as well as being in FCA in college.
