Personal Statement
I want to eventually obtain a PHD in Veterinary Sciences as a large animal veterinarian and then minor in Electrical Engineering. I also want to be able to run below a 4:15 mile and run about a 45 sec. 400. I also want to run below a 1:50 800 eventually and be able to run below 17 min. in my 5K. I am a dedicated and hard working person. I want to do what I can to become the best runner I can be. I have currently ran 2 seasons of cross country and 1 season of track. In my first season of Cross Country I started out at about a 22 min 5K and then by the end of the season my personal record was an 18:01. I then completed indoor where I injured my IT bands which I thought I healed but it later hurt me during track season and my season was over about 1/2 way through. I also had the same problem a the beginning of my second season of cross country and only ran 1/2 of the season. I now have found the source of my injuries and am preventing any future injuries of the same sort. Due o these injuries I have had to learn the value of time in my training and taking proper care of my body. Before I started running I swam and in my freshman year made it on to the varsity swim team and qualified for state in 2 personal events and 1 relay. I have also played football, basketball, and I have wrestled. I will be graduating in the year 2015. I plan to run for 1 year and then leave on a Church Mission and then come back and run once again.
