I want to study biology in college, and I’d like to continue to participate in track. I’d make a good candidate for college track teams because I am a competitive and versatile runner at distances from 400 meters to 2 miles. As a junior, I placed first in my conference in the 800m, and I have qualified for states in the 800m and the 1 mile. I am willing to also run longer distances, but because I play varsity soccer in the fall season, I have never run cross country.
Academically, I have earned all A’s in high school, scoring 1470 on my SAT and 33 on my ACT. I challenge myself with AP classes whenever offered by the school. I enjoy participating in the high school music program, playing trumpet in the concert, jazz, and pep bands. Outside of school, I play trumpet with the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band and at St. Mary’s Church in Uxbridge.
Of the many decisions I will make in life, I know that not all will be right, but I hope to find a path in which I can take pride. I believe that we should not let our talents and gifts go to waste, and I wish to use mine to not only better myself, but to help others. My motto: You can’t always be the best, but you can always work the hardest.
