Personal Statement

EDUCATION: I enjoy Academics, especially in the areas of the Math and Science. I have been able to visualize the steps and outcomes to arrive at the solutions. At times, I have found that I put the needs of others first by assisting them or helping them to understand and comprehend what comes easily to me. This has led me to work harder at the final moments to complete my work. In Middle School, I was part of our Lego Robotics team that competed against other schools. It was fun defining tasks, building/programming, testing, experimenting, working with others as a leader and worker, and then finally competing against others. Our team finished just outside of the national qualifiers. My current vision for my future education and experiences would include something along these lines. I see a strong possibility that some sort of Engineering maybe even something like Biomedical Engineering would become my career path. ATHLETICS: Over the years, I have competed in Baseball, Soccer, Bowling, Riflery, Cross-Country, and Track. At each level, I have been able to excel. Just last year, when many of our track team leaders went down to participate in the Penn Relays, I had a chance to step up for our team in a Tri-meet. Finishing the day with 3 first places and a second, I was filled with elation. This gave me an understanding that I could compete at this level even against much bigger and older students. I have set some goals for achievements in Track that should be attainable with practice and competition come this spring - Qualifying for Division 2 times in the 400M and the 300MIH. LIFE: I can work independently; however, I have close bonds with my family and friends and still look forward to helping others and working together with them to achieve our common goals and even some exceptional ones.

It was a good day. Threw a respectable 131-01 in the javelin. Ran a respectable 52.94 in the 400M to finish 4th and within a second of the winner. Busted out and finished first with a close race in the 300M Hurdles and a time of 42.53 along with a PR. Our 4x400M team also ran well. Tough pollen day. No team results or times posted yet. I finished second in the 400M. I then proceeded to trip over the second hurdle in the 300MIH and still managed to get back up and finish in third. Ignored the knee and heel pain from the fall to win the javelin by only 6" over the others.

My finish was in 71st through the chute with an unofficial time of 20:32; however, when they went to the official time results, my time did not register and so they added me to the end of the list and made up a finishing time. No times or scores reported. Lost the meet against Kingswood Oxford. Their top runner had beaten our top two runner in recent invitationals. We used my strengths and I shot out as a rabbit to burn out their top runner in the first mile at a 5:15 pace which worked as he finished in third behind our top two. The plan was that our next 2-3 runners would fill the gaps before I finished as the 5th or 6th placing runner for our team. I ended up in third for our team and 7th overall while still finishing under 20 minutes.

I currently carry an average over 185 and have been bowling since I was 4. I have competed at a high level in most all activities. My high game is a 269 in which I started with 9 straight strikes. Now I know that a 300-game is possible in my future.
