Personal Statement
The two largest influences on my life are my parents. My dad is an active duty Marine and between all the deployments and moving every few years I was taught resiliency and strength, learning to both adapt to change and take on new responsibilities. My mom taught me sacrifice and dedication and inspired me to follow my dreams. She put her children first, but eventually finished school and became a nurse. I discovered my love for running my sophomore year of high school, and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. It has made me a better person and I have formed friendships that will last a lifetime. Through running I also learned that I have a passion for coaching, as I now volunteer my time coaching the local youth running club. I plan performing at a high level my senior year, further improving my ability, potentially setting new records, and continuing personal academic success. I would love to run at the college level and further develop my passion for the sport as well as my studies, allowing me to be the best student and athlete I can be.
